The Inaugural Irish Web Awards

Calvin August 18th, 2008

image Just spotted that nominations are now being invited for the Irish Web Awards 2008, which is being held at the Radison SAS Royal Hotel in Dublin on 11th October.

This inaugural event is sponsored by Moviestar.ie, and I thought was worth mentioning here because it’s different in a few crucial ways that make it particularly interesting to SOHO enterprises.

Firstly, there’s no entry fee to have your web site considered for an award – submitting your site is free. That’s right free – which is a price point that will make cash-strapped small businesses smile.

Secondly, conscious of the financial constraints that apply to smaller businesses, the organisers have purposely kept the category sponsorship fees down to a very affordable €450, even though they could easily attract much, much more. That means even small businesses can sponsor an individual award at a prestigious national event without breaking the bank.

Thirdly, entry to the event itself is pegged at an equally affordable €30. That’s a fraction of the extortionate price you’d normally pay for an awards event like this. Which all adds up to something worthwhile that small businesses in Ireland can afford to participate in and support.

So SOHO web developers, SOHO entrepreneurs, SOHO Workers and SOHO Solo’s everywhere, get your web site nominations in pronto, and support the Irish Web Awards 2008 – an awards programme that seems to value small businesses, and has its feet planted firmly on the ground.
